SANTA MARGARITA RIVER, Ecological reserve

RESTORATION ECOLOGY

CRUCIAL MOUNTAIN LION PASSAGE

The Santa Margarita River is the last free flowing river in Southern California Connecting the Santa Anna Mountains with the Palomar Mountains. It is a crucial passageway, for the apex mountain lion.

The Eddy has protected 3 parcels totaling 62 acres, all of which add significantly to the river corridor, working alongside SDSU and The Wildlands Conservancy.

Each area has its own unique character, from native chaparral to former avocado groves being restored back to chaparral. We are removing invasive species and replanting natives to restore and support one of the most BIO-DIVERSE ECOSYSTEMS in California.
